Dakota was born 12-2-07 with Diaphragmatic Hernia He spent 9 months in Chicago Children's memorial Hospital. Dakota got to come home for the first time on September 3rd 2008. We are now blessed with a happy toddler, who is smart, happy, has the biggest smile we have ever seen and is the joy of our life's.. MY son Dakota (CODY) was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. (CDH) What is Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia? Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia occurs when the diaphragm fails to fully form, allowing abdominal organs into the chest cavity and preventing lung growth. Babies born with CDH often endure long hospitalizations and other complications such as pulmonary hypertension, infections, feeding issues, asthma and temporary developmental delay. Some babies develop worse complications and sadly, 50% of babies born with CDH do not survive. The cause of CDH is not known. Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, is severe and often fatal birth defect that occurs as often as Cystic Fibrosis and Spina Bifida. Every 10 minutes a baby is born with CDH - adding up to over half a million babies since 2000. Yet, CDH is given very little media attention.

Cody’s been doing good for the past 2 weeks without nursing.. Every night when i say OK, Its time for bed he grabs his blankie and goes to the steps and waits for me to turn off everything.. He’ll get upset if I’m still wrapping things up.. To Funny.. He sleeps in his bed most of the time. The past couple days hes been wanting to sleep with me.. I think its becouse hes getting over a cold and just wants to be by me.. So sweet..

I’m so proud of him!!

Big Boy

Cody, i’m so proud of you.. Your now graduated from home nursing… 3 and a half years ago, you could not come home from childrens memorial until you had nursing.. You have come so far in that time..vent, teach gone.. Now let’s hope the Mickey button is next to be gone.. We find out in march… Love you’
